PROJECT PURCHASING LEADER

The position

We are seeking a proactive and results-oriented Project Purchasing Leader to join AEG Power Solutions, a leader in power conversion ETO solutions. This role plays a key role in executing procurement processes for large-scale projects, with a primary focus on electrical components and transformers. Reporting directly to the Head of Procurement, you will oversee a €20M annual spend, managing supplier relationships, executing sourcing activities, and ensuring procurement objectives are met on time and within budget. 

Main responsibilities
  • Execute cost-saving initiatives for large project procurements through detailed planning and hands-on implementation. 

  • Collaborate with the quotation team to select the most suitable partners based on project requirements. 

  • Perform detailed cost breakdowns of Buyout systems (e.g., electromechanical systems, panel distribution) to identify savings opportunities. 

  • Lead operational cost-reduction projects in collaboration with factory teams to enhance project margins and improve production processes. 

  • Maintain and manage supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing, timely delivery, and quality standards. 

  • Monitor and analyze market trends to identify new suppliers and ensure supply chain continuity. 

  • Negotiate contracts with a focus on operational reliability, timely supply, and cost efficiency. 

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering ideally or similar. Master Degree in Purchasing would be perfect. 

  • At least 5-10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain roles, such as Commodity Buyer or Category Leader, within the electrical equipment, power systems, or switchgear industries. 

  • Proven experience in executing procurement plans, conducting supplier assessments, and driving cost efficiencies in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong expertise in performing cost analysis and identifying actionable savings in complex systems, especially in electromechanical and electrical components. 

  • Hands-on experience working with cross-functional teams, including factory and production units, to implement cost-reduction initiatives and optimize procurement operations. 

  • Practical knowledge of market trends and sourcing strategies, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing operational needs. 

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for supplier meetings and project-related requirements.
